Partnerships make everything better. At Rutgers, two dynamic divisions are working together to promote the arts and nurture creative talent. Rutgers Division of Continuing Studies (DoCS) and the Mason Gross Extension Division are collaborating on several exciting programs.
“The Mason Gross Extension Division builds community through the arts, and we are pleased to be their partner in several exciting endeavors. These enriching classes and events further Rutgers’ reputation as a flagship for the creative arts,” says Richard Novak, Vice President of Continuing Studies.
Stephen Sondheim Event
Kicking off the Rutgers Writers' Conference is a special pre-conference event on June 1, 2018, featuring legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sweeney Todd, Assassins, Into the Woods). Sondheim, a Grammy, Oscar, Tony, Pulitzer Prize, and Presidential Medal of Freedom winner, has been hailed as the most important artist to work in the American musical theater over the past half-century. Mr. Sondheim will be interviewed onstage by NPR's David Bianculli about his prolific career as a composer and lyricist. This event is co-sponsored by Rutgers–New Brunswick Office of Summer and Winter Sessions and the Mason Gross School of the Arts.
TUP Program
The Rutgers TUP Program is a one-year bridge program designed to prepare high-achieving international secondary school seniors for admission to and successful study at top U.S. colleges and universities. This July, Rutgers–New Brunswick Office of Summer and Winter Sessions and the Mason Gross School of the Arts will provide electives in drawing, filmmaking, choral music, and theater arts classes for TUP students.
