Updates--05/04/2020:
Randy Roque Sanchez is now a student at Rutgers, studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. He credits the Pre-Engineering Summer Academy with preparing him for the college experience and introducing him to engineering. It allowed him to meet professors and current students, experience dorm living, and work on hands-on projects.
Sanchez graduated as Valedictorian of his high school class. Afterwards, he began his freshman year at Rutgers. He joined the Society of Hispanic Engineers, of which he is now Activities Chair. Now a junior, Sanchez will soon be joining Oracle Corporation as a Software Engineer intern.
He continues to give back to his home community, mentoring younger students on programs, like the Pre-Engineering Summer Academy, that are open to them.
"The people in my hometown have helped me a lot to get to where I am today and every time I have the opportunity to help them in one way or another I always do," said Sanchez. "I am grateful for everything I have been able to achieve thus far and I hope that my achievements are able to inspire others and remind them that hard work always pays off."
