It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Suzanne Veitengruber, Howell Township’s mayor in 1991 and an active and compassionate public servant throughout her long career. Sue was a member of our Rutgers family as an adjunct faculty member of the Rutgers Center for Government Services (CGS) for 20 years. She taught municipal finance and courses for elected officials, calling on her own experience from a career that began when she received her New Jersey Registered Municipal Clerk’s license in 1994 and a New Jersey Chief Municipal Finance Officer’s license in 1995.

“Sue was responsible for the excellent instruction of hundreds of municipal officials at Rutgers CGS,” said Alan Zalkind, director of CGS, part of Rutgers Division of Continuing Studies. “Her career was remarkable, and Rutgers was fortunate to be able to use her expertise for training the government workers of today and tomorrow. She was a pioneer in local government and a tireless advocate for public service, and she will be missed.
